Andhra Pradesh has hardly any major projects coming up in the state.
The conttractors are now focusing their attention on other states as there were scarcely any projects during the downturn with the situation worsening after the death of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. Contractors are also upset with the delays in payments.
The Andhra Pradesh Government has till date sanctioned irrigation and related works worth Rs1.79-lakh crore. Of these, the government has allocated works costing Rs1.23-lakh crore through tendering. The government has paid out Rs52,000-crore so far and another Rs6,000-crore payment is due to the contractors. Project works worth Rs65,000-crore are at various stages of implementation and are yet come up for payment.
